Uniden R4w Extreme Long Range Radar/Laser Detector

The Uniden R4w packs the same extreme long-range radar and laser detection Uniden is known for into a smaller, more affordable unit. You get a Blackfin DSP with dual LNA front-ends, a sharp multicolor OLED display with voice alerts, and Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS built in. No directional arrows like the R8w, but if you want serious range without paying flagship money, this is the one we point people to.

Why we like it

• Long range: Blackfin DSP and dual LNA for early, accurate pickup. Covers X, K, Ka and laser, plus K and Ka POP, MultaRadar CD/CT and Gatso RT3/RT4.
• Quiet ride: Auto Learn GPS lockouts mute repeat false alerts at the same spots, and K and Ka band filters, traffic sensor filtering and blind spot monitor blocking cut the noise from other cars.
• Smart sensitivity: Highway, City, Auto and Advanced modes, speed-based sensitivity and Quiet Ride muting below a speed you choose.
• GPS on board: red-light and speed camera alerts from Uniden's database, and you can mark your own hot spots.
• OLED display and voice alerts: easy to read at a glance, and it calls out the band so you don't have to look.
• Wi-Fi updates: firmware and the camera database update wirelessly, no computer needed.
• R/TACH app: Bluetooth link to your phone for settings, band tones and sensitivity.
• Simple install: snap on the mount, plug into 12V, set it on the windshield. No wiring, no tools.
