BD's coolant filter kit adds a bypass filter that catches it before it causes damage.

It uses a common Donaldson filter element, so replacement filters are easy to find.

BD explains it simply: new 6.0L engines carry casting sand and debris in the water jackets that speeds up coolant breakdown, and that slurry can clog the oil cooler passages. A bypass coolant filter catches it before it does damage. BD backs this kit with a 12-month / 24,000-mile warranty.

Why we like it

Bypass coolant filtration

Uses a Donaldson P554685 filter

Bypass valve built in

Helps protect oil and EGR coolers

Fitment

Fits 2003-2007 Ford 6.0L Power Stroke.

What's in the box

Per BD's packing list: Filter Holder, Filter, Bracket, Hoses, Clamps, Fittings, Ball Valve, Thread Lock, Cable Tie, Tee Adapter, Adapters, Hardware.

Specs at a glance

Part number 1032121, about 4 lb shipping weight

BD install guide (PDF) linked in the product specs

Install notes

Bleed air from the cooling system after install.
